Job Title: Senior Counsel

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • We are seeking a Senior Counsel with extensive experience in the logistics, freight forwarding, or technology sectors.
  • This role will ensure that SEND’s operations comply with legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements while supporting our commitment to ethical business practices.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review contracts, including service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Assist with regulatory approvals and licensing applications, advising management on strategies for compliance.
  • Work with external counsel to negotiate and finalize commercial contracts and provide business-oriented legal advice.
  • Manage communications between SEND teams and external legal partners to ensure timely resolution of legal matters.
  • Advise on potential litigation issues and coordinate with external counsel on legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Develop policies and procedures in collaboration with the compliance team to ensure adherence to legal obligations across the organization.
  • Represent SEND in meetings with regulatory bodies, fostering relationships that align with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a legal or compliance role, preferably within logistics or technology.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting the freight forwarding industry.
  • Proven ability to provide forward-thinking legal advice on anticipated issues impacting business operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders across various disciplines.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
