Eligibility Criteria for the Borel Global Fellowship

To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be admitted into a graduate program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
  • Hold citizenship from a Sub-Saharan African country.
  • Commit to using their graduate studies as preparation for a career focused on improving food security in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Conduct the majority of their graduate research within Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Intend to live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa upon completing their studies.

  • Annual funding of up to $25,000 per student, which can be allocated as a stipend or combined with research funding.
  • Support for up to 30 months for Master’s students and up to 42 months for PhD students.
